The Campaign

Safe water; something we all have access to and can acquire at any time we please, right? Think again.

As one living in an urban environment, safe, clean water can be easily accessed. It is an unthinkable opulence to be able to attain fresh, trustworthy water at any time I please at the flick of a tap.

However, the simple access to safe water is still lacking to many groups and geographic areas due to improper funding of water treatment. Death, sickness, and disease are affecting communities, families, and children around the world. The right to accessing clean water isn’t spoken of enough. While many are suffering because of the effects of consuming unsafe water, it is so easy to forget that the issue is ongoing even in modern day.

Even in Canada, it is not legally defined as a human right to access clean water, while in the United Nations, this progressive step has already been taken. The only way to make any change is through raising awareness, to make more people aware of the magnitude of the issue in order to raise voices and funds to urge both the Canadian Government and those across the globe to make it a human right to have access to safe water, and to put every effort into solving water treatment problems.

With organizations attempting to solve the problem like the David Suzuki Foundation and its “Clean water for all” petition, a need for addressing it is obvious. With the safe water issue in mind, this project aims to use visuals and information in a poster that can convince viewers of the grandiosity of the problem to invoke and inspire viewers to support funding, share the word, or simply give their granted sources a second thought.
